Neurodiagnostics for Vet Techs

The first step in the workup of any patient with a suspected neurologic disease is a thorough physical exam, including a neurologic exam. After the veterinarian performs a physical exam and narrows down the differential list, however, diagnostic testing is often recommended as part of the

workup.

 

While some of these diagnostics tests can be performed in general practice, many are primarily performed at referral centers and veterinary teaching hospitals. Even if you are never in a position to perform these tests, however, understanding them will help you better educate your clients and increase the likelihood that your patients receive appropriate care.
