VTP01-1At first glance, the process of “doing an exam room” sounds relatively straightforward. In the midst of a hectic day, however, things can quickly become more complicated! Regardless of the type of appointment, you are dealing with, it always helps to go back to basics.

Follow these simple steps to provide excellent client and patient service in any veterinary appointment:
 
1. Review the Patient’s Medical Record
2. Gather the Necessary Supplies for the Appointment
3. Enter the Room and Introduce Yourself
4. Obtain an Initial Patient History
5. Perform a TPR and Brief Triage Exam
6. Recommend a Preliminary Treatment Plan and Perform Appropriate Diagnostics
7. Prepare the Vet Before They Enter the Exam Room
8. Assist the Vet in the Exam Room (If Necessary)
9. Finish Diagnostic Tests and Treatments, and Add Them to the Medical Record
10. Discharge the Patient
