Dr. Tyler Sugerman is a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for advancing veterinary medicine and education. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA, in 2015. His academic journey also includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University San Bernardino, degrees in General Education from Riverside Community College, and attended Veterinary Technician courses at Foothills Community College.
With extensive experience in emergency veterinary care, Dr. Sugerman has served as an Emergency Veterinarian at Sumner Veterinary Hospital, where he manages critical care and exotic animal cases and performs emergency surgeries. His commitment to education is evident in his role as a mentor, teaching receptionists, kennel staff, veterinary technicians, veterinary interns, and new veterinarians.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sugerman is the host and producer of the Vetsplanation Podcast, a top 10% veterinary podcast aimed at enhancing the understanding of veterinary science among professionals and pet owners alike. His contributions to veterinary medicine are marked by his dedication to client communication, innovative treatment approaches, and continuous learning.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Sugerman-McGiffin has volunteered with the Marine Mammal Care Center, providing critical care to marine animals. His diverse skill set and unwavering commitment to the field make him a respected and influential figure in veterinary medicine. He also thoroughly enjoys cooking, hiking, hanging out with his kids, and playing video games.
